History of Palace of Mines and Metals:

The Palace of Mines and Metallurgy was a unique architectural design containing Egyptian, Greek, and Assyrian elements successfully unified by Theodore Link. Huge decorated obelisks flanked the entrances to the building. The hall was 525 feet by 750 feet and cost $500,000. It had wide overhanging eaves creating a deep portico and housed nine acres of exhibits featuring the mineral resources of the world.

Everything from precious metals and gems to clay and the latest developments of mine engineering were displayed. There were demonstrations of ore crushing, concentration processes, and primitive methods of smelting copper.
