History of Lemp Mansion:

The Lemp Mansion was built in the early 1860s andpurchased by William J. Lemp in 1876 as a family home and auxiliary office forthe Lemp Brewing Company. The house, built in the Italianate style, wasconsidered a Victorian showplace. It has 33 rooms, interior walls 2 ½’ thickand an underground tunnel connecting the house and brewery. A ballroom,auditorium and swimming pool were also built in a large underground cavernaccessed by a second tunnel in the basement.

In 1975 the Lemp Mansion was purchased by Dick Pointer. After remodeling and renovations, the building was turned into a restaurant andinn. The Lemp Mansion one of the most beautiful of the St. Louis historic homesand a St. Louis treasure also carries a reputation as being one of the mosthaunted houses in the country.
